Around the redoubt No. I, in the area
comprised between the Grossen Gartens and the Elbe, the Russians
fight their particular battle against the French. Coming up form the
woods, they attacked the French left flank, defended by the 45th

an artillery duel that dismount a Russian battery, the Russian
jagers rout the French; (3) but the other Russian unit is stopped
(10.30 h); (4) in the river meander, the French in the hill are
dispersed by fire and their reserves (5) are routed by the Russian

THE FIGHT WITH THE PRUSSIANS |
After taking the Grossen Gartens, the
Prussians had their particular fight with the French around the
Redoubt No. III. The brigades 9th and 10tth assaulted that redoubt
in several occassions, entering in the Dresden suburbs, but finally
were ejected by the Young Guard. |

From left to right (1) (11.00 h) the French
43th divvision makes a sortie and routs the Prussian Landhwer (9th);
(2) (11.30 h) the Prussians (9th) take the Redoubt III (the garrison
was dispersed by fire) and rout the French whereas (3), (4) and (5)
the Pussians from the 10th brigade also rout the French. |

From left to right (1) (12.00 h) the Prussians
try to take the Redoubt IV but are rejected; (2), (3) and (4) (12.30
h) a combined Prussian attack allows they to expel the French from
the suburb border and they (5) enter in Dresden. |

THE YOUNG GUARD 'AU FEU'

From left to right (1) and (2) (12.00 h) the
Young Guard routs and expels the Prussians from Dresden and then
(13.00 h) makes a sortie, (3) and (4), routing the Prussians in two
combats; (5) however, the other Youg Guard brigade is routed by the
Prussian deployed in front of the Grossen Gartens. |

FINAL SITUATION |
Around 13.30 h the intensity of the fight is
diminishing. The Allied have suffered many losses and their atacking
elan has dissapeared. Moreover, French reinforcements are still
arriving, so the Allied commander decides to withdraw. |

RESULTS |
Allied losses: 459x120= 55080 + one captured
general
French losses: 228*120= 27360
The AlliEd occupy Plauen, the Grossen Gartens and the Redoubt No. I,
so according to Lamont Anderson, the battle is an Allied Minor
Victory.
However there is a great difference in losses (231/4 = 57.75 bases)
in favour of French |
